Denial eSports squared off against Team EnvyUs and Aware Gaming in league matches on December 23. Starting the day with an 8-2 record and a 7 match win streak, the Wolf Pack was looking to continue to build on their already impressive league record.
Kicking off the day was Denial facing off against EnvyUs, one of the most established and prestigious organizations in Call of Duty eSports. With a roster consisting of Merk, Nameless, JKap, and Clayster, EnvyUs is a squad that poses a threat to any opponent they face with their experience and teamwork. Regardless of their current mediocre 7-7 record, EnvyUs is still not a team to be taken lightly.
Map 1 was Hardpoint on Bio Lab, and right out of the gate, Denial picked up where they left off yesterday. Denial had a hefty 46-point lead after the rotation of hills by a score of 126-80, and even though EnvyUs hung in the game and put up a fight, Denial ended up holding on for a 217-180 win. Attach led Denial to victory with 44 kills and Saints added 13 captures to give the Wolf Pack a 1-0 series lead.
Heading into map 2, Search and Destroy on Bio Lab, Denial knew they had been successful on this map and game combination in recent matches. Denial took the first five rounds easily off of EnvyUs and coasted to a 6-3 victory to take a 2-0 series lead.
On Capture the Flag on Ascend, Denial was looking to close out EnvyUs for the 3-0 series sweep. This match was much closer than the two before, as the two teams were tied at 2-2 entering overtime. Denial came out strong as they captured the first flag in overtime to take the 3-2 lead in just 40 seconds. EnvyUs needed to score in just 40 seconds or less, and would fall short to lose the series to Denial by a score of 3-0. Replays was impressive for Denial with 31 kills, 1 flag capture, 9 defends, and 3 flag returns.
In their second match of the night, Denial was pitted against Aware Gaming. Aware won their previous match against JustUs by a score of 3-0 earlier in the night. Although only amassing a 5-6 record in the league during the season, Aware was coming in with confidence after sweeping JustUs. Aware’s roster, consisting of Accuracy, Lawless, Sender, and Happy, is still working out kinks but is obviously a threat as they have defeated other top teams during the season.
Map 1 was Hardpoint on Detroit, which is one of Denial’s stronger maps. Attach led the way again for Denial in Hardpoint with 37 kills, 9 captures, and 6 defends as they defeated Aware by a score of 250-153. At this point Denial had won all four maps they had played during the night, and were looking to end the night with a perfect record.
Search and Destroy on Bio Lab followed as map 2 as Denial looked to take a 2-0 series lead over Aware. Denial won the first 4 rounds and continued to dominate as they took the second map by a score of 6-1. Saints led the way going 8-2 and Replays added two bomb plants. With only one map away from the series victory, Aware seemed to be demoralized, as they had no answer to stop the Wolf Pack.
Map 3 was Capture the Flag on Retreat, and Denial was off to another quick start. With two captures in the first minute, Denial was in complete control to finish off Aware. Aware put up a fight, but Denial ended up taking map 3 by a score of 4-3 and sweeping the series 3-0 against Aware.
After finishing off a perfect night, Denial had improved to a 10-2 record on the season, including winning 9 consecutive matches. Denial has looked dominant over the win streak, especially their matches the last two nights winning the map count 12-2. Denial resumes league play on December 29 against Optic Nation at 7:00pm and Aware Gaming at 8:30pm.
